Machine washable on gentle (cold water with a non toxic detergent), then hang to dry. If used daily, I recommend soaking in a bowl of warm water with 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide. Do this for half hour or so, then hang to dry. If you have a clothesline, even better. The sun is a natural bacteria buster 😉
 
As with all organic items, the fibres will eventually break down, at which point, your scrubbie can then be tossed in the composter.. You can't say that about your $6+ plastic sponge, that will stink to high heaven, breeding bacteria and loading up our landfills.
